Questions & Instructions How does Airbrush Tanning work? The active ingredient (which is FDA approved), dihydroxyacetone (DHA), reacts with the amino acids (proteins) in the outermost layer of your skin. Our process is done with a natural sugar cane bronzer with carmel tint. How long does the tan last? It really depends on how you care for your skin. If you moisturize and take care of your skin, your tan will last longer. If you wear your skin hard, take long hot baths or showers, wear clothes that chafe, or do anything to encourage the skin to “shed,” so goes your tan. There are products made specifically for spray tanning that help extend your sunless tan. It last approximately 6 to 8 days. How is the tanning done? The process is done by hand with a machine that sprays the DHA on. Airbrushing by hand enables even, personalized coverage. What do I wear for my Airbrush Tanning Session? Wear loose, dark colored clothing to the tanning session and for 8-10 hours after the application has been applied (be sure to wash undergarments out that evening). You may wear a bathing suit or undergarments. How do I prepare for my Airbrush Tanning Session? For the best results, you must shower and exfoliate the skin beforehand. We carry pre-spray prep scrubs to ensure you are starting with a fresh layer of skin. Make sure your skin is free of all lotions, oils, gels, perfumes, deodorants, and any other products (including make up if you want your face tanned) that may create a barrier. Make sure if you have long hair pull it up and pin it off your face. How safe is Airbrush Tanning? The active ingredient, DHA is derived from raw sugar cane and has been FDA approved for cosmetic use. It reacts with the amino acids in your skin to produce a darkening effect. DHA does not damage the skin as it only effects the outermost layer of the epidermis. What is the Difference between Being Airbrushed and Using Sunless Lotion? Imagine the difference between wearing oven mitts over your hands to smear paint over your car and using an airbrush to paint it. Even with the greatest of care, and help from a friend to get all the places you cannot reach, you cannot duplicate the evenness and natural look of an airbrushed tan. Looking after your new tan! Immediately after you should NOT: Put on tight clothing Exercise- perspiring immediately alters the chemical reaction Do anything that makes you sweat for at least 6 hours Swim or otherwise immerse yourself in water. No shower/bath for 8 hours No scrubbing on your skin, shower gel and a wash cloth only. DO NOT sit on leather furniture, car seats, etc- or they will get “tanned” MOISTURIZE! You will continue to get darker for up to 6 hours after your session. Expect the same results you normally experience from a natural suntan. |
